Our History

TwaAssist Kenya was founded in 2020 by Rhodah Kariuki and John Waweru in response to the growing demand for mental health services in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, which resulted in an increase in mental health issues. Rhodah, who had personally gone through a traumatic car accident in 2019, noticed the limited availability of mental health services and decided to make a difference. She established ‘Teens Solution’, a support group dedicated to aiding young girls who have encountered or are currently facing trauma. Working alongside Co-Founder John Waweru, who was already engaged in community initiatives, they broadened their impact by establishing TwaAssist Counselling  to promote awareness, offer support, and empower individuals in overcoming mental health obstacles.

Who We Are

TwaAssist Kenya is mental health firm dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and providing support to those in need of mental health services in Kenya. Our focus extends to collaborating with corporate entities, child institutions, and educational establishments, particularly targeting vulnerable and marginalized groups. We recognize the significance of primary mental health care services in preventing and intervening early to mitigate the prevalence and impact of mental health issues. TwaAssist Kenya was established with the goal of creating a nurturing environment that fosters emotional, psychological, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. Our initial efforts involved establishing connections with small community groups, identifying their mental health needs, and offering therapy and education on mental health, as well as referring individuals to specialized treatment when necessary. The inspiration behind TwaAssist Kenya stems from the lack of access and affordability of mental health services and information for young people.
